What Is DND

Wondering what the full meaning of DND is? DND simply means “Do Not Disturb”. Just like the name implies, once you have this service activated, you will no longer have to worry about receiving unwanted messages sent randomly to your phone by your network providers.

According to NCC; Following a strict direction to the telecommunications service providers in the country, the operators, with effect from July 1, 2016, activated the DO NOT DISTURB facility which gives subscribers the freedom to choose what messages to receive from the various networks. With this Direction, the operators have been mandated to dedicate a common Short Code (2442) which will enable subscribers to make a choice of what kind of SMS they receive in their phone.

How to Activate “Do Not Disturb” (DND) On All Nigerian Network

NOTE: After you must have activated the Do Not Disturb feature on your phone number, you will no longer receive unwanted text messages and calls from your network providers.

But normal calls and text messages initiated by you will work perfectly well anytime you wish to carry them out.

If you wish to get started with the DND service, you need to be sure if you want to temporarily activate it or fully activate it.

How to Activate Partial “Do Not Disturb” (DND) On All Nigerian Network

Send the word “HELP” as an SMS to 2442 after which you will get a message which contains the whole categories of services on the network (MTN, Glo, 9mobile or Airtel).

After texting HELP to 2442, the prompt you would get will loot as thus:

STOP: To stop all SMS and IVR messages.
ALLOW: To receive all SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 1: To receive Banking / Insurance/ Financial Products SMS.
SMS 2: To receive Real Estate SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 3: To receive Education SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 4: To receive Health SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 5: To receive Consumer goods & Automobiles SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 6: To receive Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 7: To receive Tourism & Leisure SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 8: To receive Sport SMS and IVR messages.
SMS 9: To receive Religion SMS and IVR messages.
STATUS: To check the status of your DND.
